Police impersonators in Market Weighton
3:20pm 16th August 2010
A warning to people in Market Weighton after a man impersonated a police officer.
A group of friends were parked and sat talking in a blue Ford Focus on Finkle Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.
They were approached by two men and a woman.
One of the men claimed he was an undercover police officer, who wanted to search the vehicle and its occupants following an alleged incident involving the car earlier in that night.
The group emptied their pockets and asked to see some identification; but were told "no."
As a result they drove away.
The first suspect is described as being a white man, aged around 35, of stocky build and around 6ft tall. He had short, dark coloured hair with a stubbly face and star tattoos running from his forearm to his wrist. He was wearing a dark coloured raincoat and spoke with a broad Irish accent.
The second suspect is described as being a white male aged around 30-years-old, of slim build and around 6ft 2in tall. He had medium length dark coloured hair and again spoke with a broad Irish accent.
The third suspect is a white woman, aged between 30 and 35, of small slim build and around 5ft 5in tall. She had light brown coloured hair that was tied up at the time. She was wearing a grey or blue coloured horizontal striped hooded top and jeans.
Officers investigating this incident are appealing for any witnesses or any who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to call Humberside Police on 0845 60 60 222 quoting log 47 of 14/08/10 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
