Man arrested after a robbery and assault in Ripon

Officers from North Yorkshire Police have arrested a 44 year old man in Catterick Garrison following a robbery and burglary which occurred on North Road in Ripon on Wednesday 4th August 2010.

The incident occurred at 6.30pm as the 31 year old victim returned to his home.

He was approached by a man who assaulted him by punching the man in the face and knocking him to the ground.

The attacker then kicked the man in the head while he was on the ground.

He then stole the victim's house keys and other property, including his wallet and mobile phone.

The man then entered the victim's property. However, he had left the scene prior to the arrival of police officers.

A 44 year old man, who was known to the victim, was arrested at his home address in Catterick Garrison shortly after midnight on Thursday 5th August on suspicion of robbery.

He currently remains in police custody.
