The organiser of the Leeds and Reading Festival says people should not be put off by last weekend's Love Parade tragedy.

21 people were crushed to death when more than a million people, four times as many as expected, turned up to the event in Germany.

Festival Republic Chief Exec, Melvin Benn, says UK licensing laws mean that wouldn't happen here.

Meanwhile a local band are celebrating getting the opportunity to play at this year's Leeds Festival.

Wakefield group, Penguin, won the Martin House Children's Hospice competition to feature on the Introducting Stage.
