Visit York Museums Trust sites for free

Museum Gardens

3:24pm 19th January 2018

March with the Suffragettes at York Castle Museum, learn about the birdlife of the York Museum Gardens and be inspired by the art of York Art Gallery later this month as York Museums Trust takes part in the York Residents Festival.

On the weekend of January 27 and 28 York Castle Museum, the Yorkshire Museum and York Art Gallery are free to York residents.

Gaby Lees, learning manager for York Museums Trust, said:

“York is blessed with some wonderful attractions and we hope that the people who live in the city will come and explore the buildings and collections the Trust looks after for free this York Residents Festival.

We have put on some special events looking at the Suffragette movement at the Castle and craft activities at York Art Gallery.

We are also lucky enough to have the RSPB joining us for the weekend at the York Museum Gardens, to help visitors spot some of the wonderful bird life, before taking part in bird themed crafts inside the Yorkshire Museum. It should be a hoot!”

To claim free entry to the museums and gallery on either of these dates, please bring a valid YorkCard, York Student Card or Council Tax Bill as proof of residency.

Under 17s always go free at all sites.
