1:33pm 18th January 2018

By Ian Appleyard from York City Football Club

Adriano Moke has vowed to repay the faith of manager Martin Gray by helping York City win promotion this season.

Speaking after extending his City contract until summer 2019, Moke said:

"I am really happy and I would like to thank the Gaffer and the club for giving me a new deal.

I want to keep working hard for myself and the team now and push on for promotion. That's the number one target."

Explaining his desire to stay, Moke said:

"The Gaffer had a big role. He has done a lot for me.

He's come in and he is developing me as a player and I am listening to him. I am really delighted and I want to repay him by working as hard as I am doing."

Originally signed from the Glenn Hoddle Academy seven years ago,

Moke helped City win promotion to the Football League in 2012 before spells at Cambridge United, Tamworth (loan), Macclesfield Town, Wrexham, and Boreham Wood.

Now 28, he returned for his second spell at Bootham Crescent 14 months ago.

Asked whether he would be prepared to stay with City for the rest of his career, Moke said:

"I don't see why not? I started here when I was 19-20 and I made my debut here. This is a really nice, family club. I am really enjoying it and I love this club.

"At the moment, my number one goal is to help get us out of this league," he added. "We are sticking together and going for it. I can now focus on what's on the pitch, helping my team-mates, and repaying the Gaffer and the rest of the staff."

Fourth-placed City, who have won five consecutive games in Vanarama National League North, entertain fifth-placed Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
