York's Chocolate Story is launching a brand new exhibition this year.

The 'Times of Change: Women and Confectionery' display will showcase all of the women who worked in the industry in the city - from admin to being on the production lines.

This new exhibition will be made up of unique historical artefacts and testimony from the women who worked in the industry.

Throughout the centuries, many women played their part in making the industry what it is today. Often overlooked in the history of chocolate, these people created some iconic innovations that can still be seen across the planet.

But they need your help in completing the display. They need people in York who know of people who worked in the factories to get in touch and help complete the exhibition.

A spokesman for York's Chocolate Story said:

Guests will discover how workplace dynamics changed forever when the men were called to fight in both world wars, and how it wasn’t that long ago that marriage could act as a serious career-hindrance. For centuries, women have been the unsung heroes of York’s sweet heritage.

Do you have a story to tell? Have you or any of your female relatives worked in the confectionary industry? We would love to hear from you. Let us know on our social media, by emailing brosenfield@yorkschocolatestory.com or calling 01904 527765.
