Two women die after Yorkshire Dales crash

Two women in their 80s have died after a collision on the A65 near Settle on Saturday morning.

At approximately 10.45am, a small silver coloured Nissan Micra hatchback was travelling on the A65 from Settle in the direction of Ingleton, when it left the road and collided with a tree near Austwick.

Sadly the passenger in the vehicle, an 89-year-old woman from Morley in Leeds, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, an 87-year-old woman from Morley in Leeds, sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Preston Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the car travelling along the A65 prior to the collision to contact them, to help them establish the circumstances around the incident.
