York's Firefighters Charity bonfire raises over £11,000

11:46am 20th November 2017

Over £11,000 is expected to be raised for the Firefighters Charity thanks to a bonfire and fireworks display in York.

It took place at Rawcliffe Country Park on 4th November.

The event has been taking place there for the last few years, and alongside the bonfire and fireworks, featured fun fair rides, live music and refreshments.

Colin Hunter, station manager at Acomb Fire Station, said:

"Once again we are on target to increase the amount we raise for the Firefighters Charity and this year that is likely to be well in excess of £11,000. This money will be used to help firefighters and their families in times of difficulty and also provides a valuable rehabilitation service to firefighters recovering from injury."
