Abnormal load to set off from York on Friday morning

Traffic Jam

4:54pm 19th October 2017
(Updated 5:05pm 19th October 2017)

An abnormal load which is due to travel through parts of York on Friday morning could cause traffic delays.

It will be setting off from Jockey Lane, near Monks Cross, at around 9.15am to begin it's journey to Hull Docks under police escort.

Drivers on it's route are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

The route is Jockey Lane, A1036, Hopgrove Roundabout, A64, Hazlebush Lane, Stockton on the Forest, Holtby Lane, Straight Lane, A166, Grimston Bar, A1079 to Kexby, then onwards to Hull Docks.

Council officials say this route has been used in previous years for this type of load.

The vehicle is 134t, 4.5m wide and approx 6m high with an overall length of 38m and a rigid length of approximately 28m.

It is unable to use the A64 as it would be too high for the bridges or the official high load route through Warthill because of a bend.
