Community groups and charities in the area of Kirby Misperton will soon be able to apply for grants from a new £100,000 fund.

Third Energy has signed an agreement with the Two Ridings Community Foundation to be the independent managers of the community fund linked to the hydraulic fracturing operations in the village.

This Fund has been set up under the United Kingdom Onshore Oil & Gas (UKOOG) community engagement charter to help support community benefit schemes.

Projects that support and benefit the local community will be eligible for funding.
Any organisation or group which is not-for-profit and not controlled by a local authority will be able to apply.

The Fund will be administered by the Two Ridings Community Foundation, an independent fund administrator serving communities across North and East Yorkshire.

Jan Garril, chief executive of the Two Ridings Community Foundation said:

We are very pleased to have signed the agreement setting up this new fund.

We will shortly begin the work to set up the Kirby Misperton Community Fund which will include a survey to establish local priorities and the recruitment of a panel to advise on the distribution of funds.”

Rasik Valand, chief executive of Third Energy, added:

Third Energy is proud to have produced gas and energy in Ryedale for more than two decades, employing local people, supporting the local economy and honouring our commitment to operate safely and with minimal environmental impact.

With our test fracs at Kirby Misperton imminent, this Fund is recognition of the role that residents in the Kirby Misperton area have hosting these operations in their community.

We look forward to learning how the grants will benefit the local community.”
