Victims of the St William's abuse scandal are petitioning for a public enquiry in York today.

Certain members of staff at the school in Market Weighton, were found guilty of sexually abusing boys between 1972 and 1992.

Now, victims want to know why it was covered up and are calling for justice.

They want to hand in a petition to the police, social services, and the Home Office.

Darren Furness, a victim and the founder of the St William's Survivor Group said:

I've been fighting this for 32 years, and we are now fighting back to say we want some answers. We want a public enquiry to find out why nothing was done at the time. We need to end abuse, stop abuse in this country, full stop.
