Border collie called Shep rescued by firefighters

Fire Engine Rescue

9:40pm 12th August 2017

Fire crews have rescued a border collie called Shep from the bottom of a 50 foot steep embankment at Bolton Abbey.

Shep had chased some ducks across a weir but wouldn't attempt the return journey.

The dog thought twice about braving the swift current.

A man had tried to help the animal and was rescued too.

Crews from Skipton and Ripon used a rope pack to lead both to safety.
