Thirsk railway station had some visitors on an unusual journey.

Geoff Marshall and Vicki Pipe are on day 88 of a journey in which they aim to visit all 2563 railway stations in Great Britain.

Since setting off from Penzance, in May, they have been heading steadily north, leaving behind a comet’s trail of videos, tweets, Instagram, periscope and the odd email and postcard.

They plan to produce a documentary video showing the railway network as it is in 2017.

They stopped off at Thirsk for 30 minutes or so, and were given a copy of the local paper and a piece of knitting by the Thirsk Yarnbombers - as well as a cup of tea.

Now they are heading into Scotland.
