3:29pm 20th March 2017

There's a flood alert in force for the upper stretches of the River Ouse today.

It comes following heavy rainfall over the Yorkshire Dales on Sunday.

The level of the River Ouse in central York is currently 2.15m (7 feet 1 inch).

This means there is water on the Staithes and some lower riverside footpaths.

No further rise is now expected, but levels will remain high through the afternoon before starting to fall this evening.
