Kids arrested for dealing drugs in York and Malton

4:14pm 4th May 2010

More shocking revealations by North Yorkshire Police.

The force have revealed children as young as 12 have been arrested in York and Malton on suspicion of dealing drugs

New figures show 671 under-18s have been detained in the county in the last four years.

A police spokeswoman has told Minster FM...

"It is of great concern that children as young as 12 find themselves arrested for drug offences.  The police work closely with appropriate agencies to address young peoples' drug problems.

"It is hoped that the early intervention they receive after coming into contact with the police will get them the support and guidance they need to steer them away from a future involving drugs."
