A cry for help from one of the Norton Flat Fire victims

(Updated 6:11am 4th May 2010)

An apprentice jockey, who survived a fire in Norton which killed two of his colleagues, has told a jury that one of the victims was "calling for help".

Dean Pratt said he was standing beside Jan Wilson in the blazing flat.

Moments later he was left with "no choice" but to dive head-first from the window to the ground below.

19 year old Jan and 18 year old Jamie Kyne were killed in the fire.

Peter Brown, who's 37, denies murder.

The trial continues at Leeds Crown Court.
