Outrage over the cost of a school meal in York. Mums and Dads are alerady forking out £2:15 per school dinner.

The council is considering appointing a new catering firm for a 5 year contract.

However because of the rate of inflation, meals aren't unlikely to be any cheaper than their current price of £2.15.

Carol Runciman represents Children and Young People in York. She thinks prices will also remain high, because kitchen staff will get a wage rise.

Local Mums are angry though. Kerry Sidley is a Mum of three she spoke to Minster fm and told us she can only afford for one of her kids to have school dinners
