York City Knights Fans "Frustrated" as Matches Move to Doncaster

Stadium Frontage

3:52pm 5th January 2015

York City Knights fans have told Minster FM they're "frustrated and annoyed" at having to travel to Doncaster to watch the team play.

The Knights friendly match against Hull FC on 11th January, will now be played at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium, after the Knights left their old base at the Huntington Stadium last year.

A two year agreement with York Council for York City Knights to play at York City's ground at Bootham Crescent has been withdrawn, after the council and the Knights got into a legal dispute over the planned new Community Stadium.

The Knights have said in a statement on their website, that they are hopeful their next match on February 1st will be played at Bootham Crescent.

Nigel Moulton is a York City Knights fan and is annoyed at having to travel to Doncaster to watch the team.

A York City Knights spokesman said, “We are disappointed that promises and assurances have not been met by York City Council, but we will just bat on until we hear from the Council on the reasons why they have not been in Contact with the club since early November 2014. We are optimistic that the issues can be resolved very quickly once the Council confirms when we can meet.

A spokeswoman for City of York Council said: "We are not able to go into the details of litigious claims. Legal representatives for both parties are in discussion".
