More thefts from cars in Ryedale
8:05am 31st December 2014
Police in the Ryedale District are warning residents to be on their guard after five vehicles were broken into during December.
Two of the incidents occurred in Malton and Old Malton on 5 December, another in Thornton Le Dale on 9 December, and two more in Pickering between 23-24 December and 27-29 December.
Enquires remain ongoing into each of the incidents and it is not known at this stage if any of them are linked.
While the investigations continue, it is important for residents to take every step possible to secure their vehicles.
Sergeant Amanda Reader, of the Ryedale Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "By following even the most basic crime prevention advice, such as securing vehicles in garages and driveways or parking in well-lit areas, locking doors, closing windows, fitting alarms and removing valuables from sight, it will go a very long way to keep opportunistic criminals at bay."
