Snow and freezing temperatures are forecast for North Yorkshire and the East Riding over the next 48 hours.
Forecasters say there's a risk of significant falls at low levels too.
A depression is expected to track south east across the UK on Boxing Day with snow over areas to the north of it.
It's currently in the Atlantic Ocean.
The actual route of the weather front remains uncertain but areas affected by snow could see up to 10cm (4in) and driving conditions on the higher routes of the Dales, Wolds and Moors couldl be difficult.
A Severe Weather (Yellow - Be Prepared) warning has been issued for Boxing day for Northern Ireland England and Wales but it could be Saturday night before we see widespread snow fall in North Yorkshire.
Keep in touch with developments by listening to 104.7 Minster FM / More Minster DAB for regular weather and travel updates and we will let you know more as the situation develops.
The Met Office says there's still a lot of uncertainty about it at the moment.
