Masked Men Attack Husband in Pickering Home Burglary

Three masked men have attacked a man in front of his wife during a burglary in Pickering on Monday night.
The men had followed the man back to his home on Firthland Road at 8.40pm. They then punched the man in the face, demanded cash from him and also threatened his wife.
The thieves, who are believed to have been carrying a knife, took £500 from the man and a further £1,000 which was in the house before running out the front door along Goslip Gate.
Police carried out a major search of the area, including bringing in helicopters, but so far have not been able to find the men.
The couple at the house, who are both in their 50s have been left extremely upset and shaken by the incident. The husband and wife went to Scarborough Hospital to be checked over, the man was left with minor injuries to his face but his wife was physically unharmed
Police want to hear from anyone who was in the Eastgate, Hungate, Southgate or Firthland Road area on the night of the burglary and saw any suspicious people or activity.
All three suspects are described as medium build and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.
Detective Sergeant Ken Proctor of Scarborough CID, said: “This incident has left the victims very shocked by what happened and I am appealing to the public for their help as we continue our investigation.
“We want to hear from anyone who was in Pickering and saw any suspicious activity along the route of Eastgate to Firthland Road, or anyone who saw the suspects fleeing the scene at Firthland Road along Goslip Gate.”
