Car Driver Killed in Collision With Parked HGV in Lay-By On A168

Fatal collision between a car and heavy good vehicle in a lay-by on the north-bound carriageway of A168 between Dishforth and Thirsk.
It happened at around 10.30am Sunday 7 December 2014 and involved a dark blue Mercedes A-class car which collided with the rear of a green and white HGV which was parked in the lay-by near the Asenby turn-off.
The driver of the Mercedes, a man aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The lorry driver, a man aged in his 30s, was uninjured.
Both lanes of the north-bound carriageway of the A168 were closed at the time.
