Police Investigate As Helmsley Restaurant Set On Fire

At around 1.30am on Wednesday 3 December 2014, the front of Helmsley Spice on Bridge Street was set alight.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch.

Mohammed Shaqib runs the Indian restauarant and doesn't understand why it happened:

Detective Constable Lucie Welford, of Malton CID, said:

“Fortunately nobody was hurt in the incident, however if the fire and spread any further the impact could have been devastating"
