16 Year Old Girl Approached by Two Men in White Van in York

Police car

4:50pm 3rd December 2014

York police are appealing for the public's help to trace the occupants of a white panel van after they approached a 16-year-old girl in York on Tuesday afternoon.

The girl was walking along York Road in Strensall at around 3.55pm when the van pulled up alongside her and the occupants asked her to get in the van.

The girl refused to get in the van and told the men no. The vehicle then drove off in the direction of the mini roundabout on York Road. The men made no attempt to get out of the van or touch the girl.

The van is described as a white panel van with black writing on the side.

The driver is described as white, aged around 30, of slim build with short brown hair, a short beard and was wearing a hi-vis jacket.

The passenger is described as white, aged around 23, of medium build with medium length brown hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing a grey hooded top and black trousers.

Police are appealing to the occupants of the van to contact them to explain their actions. They also want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the van and its occupants from the description.

Police are also keen to speak to the driver of a blue Vauxhall Corsa which was behind the van and was being driven by a woman with two children in the vehicle.

Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Robert Knight. Or email Robert.knight@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
