More than 3,800 people have signed a petition calling for funding to be guaranteed for York's Yearsley Pool until 2019.
On Saturday, twenty volunteers collected 1,405 signatures in two hours on Parliament Street.
Fiona Evans from the Yearsley Pool Action Group told Minster FM:
"The event was very well supported by both the public and cross party Councillors. Cllr Brian Watson, Cllr Mark Warters, Cllr Sian Wiseman, Cllr Keith Aspden and Cllr Keith Orrell joinned us for the photograph to show support, but later Cllr Carol Runciman and Cllr Ian Cuthbertson came along also. Tom Hughes from the York District Sports Council popped by to give his support, and we received supportive emails for the event from Independent Labour."
York Council has said it does not want to see Yearsley Pool close but wants the community to take it over.
It adds that the pool costs £250,000 a year in subsidies.
