Yorkshire Themed Bonfire Night at York Maze A Sell Out
5:08pm 4th November 2014
A dramatic firework display in York on 5th November is being hailed as a celebration of a great year for Yorkshire. The fireworks at York Maze will be choreographed to a soundtrack of hits from great Yorkshire bands and artists, including Alistair Griffin’s ‘The Road’, the anthem of the Tour de France Yorkshire Grand Depart.
Says Tom Pearcy from York Maze, “This year’s fireworks will be choreographed to a soundtrack featuring great Yorkshire bands and artists including The Kaiser Chiefs, Pulp, Shed Seven and John Barry. And of course 2014 has been a momentous year for Yorkshire with the hosting of the Tour de France Grand Depart. A giant yellow wooden bicycle, approximately 4 times the size of a real bike, will take pride of place on top of the bonfire as our Guy.
“We are delighted that acclaimed Yorkshire singer songwriter, and the man responsible for the official song of the 2014 Grand Depart, "The Road", Alistair Griffin will be our guest of honour to lead the countdown to the fireworks. The portion of the display choreographed to ‘The Road’ will feature fireworks inspired by the colours of the race jerseys. Expect to see the night sky lit up in yellow, green and even white with pink spots!”
Says Alistair Griffin, “I’m delighted to have been asked to lead the countdown to the York Maze fireworks. It was a great honour to do the official song for the Tour de France Yorkshire Grand Depart and it’s great that a little bit of Tour de France magic is coming back to Yorkshire as part of the York Maze fireworks display.”
The York Maze Fireworks to music spectacular will include over 1 ton of explosives lighting up the night sky. The finale will see one of the UK’s biggest fireworks, a basketball sized 10 inch shell, shoot up into the sky above York reaching a height of over 1000ft, higher than the UK’s tallest building – The Shard.
If you haven’t already got a ticket then unfortunately tickets for the York Maze Fireworks to Music Spectacular on 5th November are sold out, and tickets are not available on the door.
