Woman in Hospital After York Assault May Have Known Suspect

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously assaulted in York.
The woman, aged 42, was attacked on Lady Road in Clifton at sometime between 4am and 4.30am on Thursday 2 October 2014.
She suffered head injuries in the incident and is currently receiving treatment in hospital, where her condition is described as serious but stable.
The woman is helping officers with the investigation and it is believed that she was assaulted by a man known to her.
Lady Road has been cordoned off while enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
Officers are appealing for information about the assault and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Detective Inspector Andrea Kell, of York CID, said: “Although it is believed that the victim knew her attacker, the investigation is still at an early stage so I am urging anyone with information that can help our enquiries to get in touch.
“If you were in the Lady Road area between 4am and 4.30am and either witnessed the assault take place or saw anyone acting suspiciously, I urge you to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
