Police car

2:19pm 29th September 2014

Police are renewing their appeal for information after a cyclist died following a collision near Eggborough.

It occurred at around 8.45am on Saturday 27 September 2014, on the roundabout at the junction of the M62 and A19.

The collision involved a heavy goods vehicle with a white cab and a white and blue trailer and a dark grey Specialised pedal cycle, which was travelling north, on the A19, towards Eggborough.

The man, riding the bicycle, was wearing black and red cycle clothing and wearing a black and red rucksack.

As a result of the incident the cyclist, a 49-year-old man from near Goole, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance, where he sadly died.

We are not yet in a position to release any further details about the man at this time.

Traffic Constable Zoë Billings, of the Force’s Major Collision Investigation Team, said: “If you witnessed the collision and have not yet contacted the police, I urge you to do so straight away.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the pedal cycle prior to the incident and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can assist this enquiry should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for David Minto. Alternatively, information can be emailed to majorcollisioninvestigationteam2@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
