VIDEO: York Maze Launches Job Interview from Hell
3:49pm 18th September 2014
Candidates for a job in York are set to discover it really is the job interview from Hell. York Maze is seeking 50 people to work at the attraction during the Halloween season and have devised a devilish interview process to find the right souls.
Potential candidates will be called into the Devil’s Boardroom to face an interview panel of Demons led by York Maze owner Tom Pearcy who will grill them on their past life and hopes for the future. They will then join the group interviews where they will be presented with a basket of Halloween costumes and props and challenged to scare a member of the York Maze team.

Tom Pearcy from York Maze added, “We are looking for the right souls to fill vacancies in all areas of the business, from catering staff, to shop staff and people to run our family Halloween attractions. We are also seeking staff to work the Hallowscream nights as part of the acting team. This is a demanding role as you will be playing the part of a zombie, monster or other demon in one of the five haunted houses. However no acting experience is necessary as successful candidates will attend our scare school where they will learn the art of scaring people.
“People may think we’re being a bit over the top with the spooky Halloween themed interview, but it is planned like that for a reason. We need to make sure the staff we recruit can cope with working in a scary environment and have an outgoing personality. Our customer service philosophy is that whether you are working as part of the actor team or serving in the cafe, when you are at work at York Maze you are on stage at all times.”
Details of how to apply for a Halloween job at York Maze can be found online at www.yorkmazehalloween.co.uk. Applications close on Friday 26 September with the job interviews from Hell held at the beginning of October.
