irene walmsley

10:10am 5th September 2014

Irene Walmsley, 87, was last seen approx 1.25pm on Thursday 4 September 2014, crossing the road in Strensall near to the Ship Inn towards Boots Pharmacy.

She is described as being white, 5ft 5in to 5ft 6in tall, with a medium to large build and elbow length grey hair. When she was last seen Irene was wearing a beige coat, dark trousers, black shoes and was carrying a black handbag with shoulder strap. She may be using a walking stick.

Officers are concerned for Irene’s welfare as not being in touch with her family is out of character.

Police Sergeant Carol Horner, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

“Irene, if you see or hear this appeal I urge you to contact your family straight away as they are very concerned about you and want to know that you are safe and well."

“If you would prefer to speak with the police, please get in touch with us and we will reassure your family that you are not in any danger."

“I am also asking anyone who sees Irene to get in touch with the police as a matter of urgency.”

Sergeant Horner added:

“Please be aware that although the picture of Irene is a good likeness, her hair is now longer, it is elbow length, rather than collar length.”

Anyone who can help to locate Irene Walmsley should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the details to the Force Control Room.
