Incident at Northallerton police station

Northallerton police are thanking the public for their patience following the evacuation of the town’s police station when a suspicious package was discovered in the station.
Following an examination of the package by an Army team from Catterick Garrison, it was declared safe.
The 25-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill, remains in police custody.
Chief Inspector Sarah Sanderson, of Northallerton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to thank local residents and business owners for their patience and understanding while the incident was ongoing.
“I am also grateful to the Army personnel who carried out the checks on the package and are now assisting with the investigation.”
