Reward After York Armed Robbery

It occurred at approximately 8.50pm on Thursday 28 August 2014, at Macraes Newsagents, Huntington Road.

The suspect entered the shop and threatened two women working in the shop, with a handgun. The man demand money and cigarettes, which the shop staff gave him.  

He is described as white, around 5ft 4in to 5ft 5in tall. At the time, he was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with thin horizontal stripes up the arms and across the hood. He was carrying a JD Sports carrier bag.

The reward of £1,000 is available for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the offender.

Detective Sergeant Fionna McEwan, of York CID, said:

"I would like to thank those people who have already come forward and provided us with information."

"If you were in the Huntington Road area around the time of the robbery, and have not yet contacted the police, I ask you to do so straight away. Even the smallest detail could help us to identify the man responsible."

Detective Sergeant McEwan added:

"The reward will be paid by Crimestoppers after a suspect has been convicted at court."
