Garden Waste From Pocklington and Market Weighton To Power Homes
8:09am 13th August 2014
Garden waste from bins in Pocklington and Market Weighton will soon be used to power homes across North Yorkshire.
Currently garden waste is dumped at landfill sites, but from April it will be sent to Ferrybridge power station to be burnt for electricity.
It's set to also save taxpayers money as East Riding Council will pay less landfill tax to the government.
