Man Exposes Himself On A Train Between York and Thirsk

12:52pm 21st July 2014
(Updated 1:08pm 21st July 2014)

PC Ryan Griffiths, investigating for BTP said:

"A man boarded a Trans Pennine Express Service at York and paid in cash to upgrade his ticket to Thirsk.

"He then sat down in a carriage across from the victim, a 50-year-old woman from Sutton under Whitestonecliffe."

"During the journey the man began to expose himself and performed an indecent act in front of the woman. Both the man and the victim left the train at Thirsk, where she reported the incident to the train guard."

"Following the incident officers have carried out a number of enquiries and have managed to isolate a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to about the incident."

PC Griffiths added:

"I am confident the man in the CCTV image will have key information about the incident and ask anyone who recognises him to come forward. When the man left the station he walked down a secluded rural footpath which is only really used by locals so we believe he may reside in the Thirsk area."

"I would also like to hear from anyone who may have other information about the incident."
