York College Degree Level Courses Closer Than You Think

York Playground Locked and Unused For over Three Years

People living on the Woodlands Estate have contacted Minster FM to ask Joseph Rowntree Housing to unlock the play area.

The playground, which has new equipment, is at the centre of a debate which wants to see it be opened.

The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust says it's "unsafe" to re--open the playground after it was previously vandalised and burnt down.

A spokes person from the Trust said:

"We understand the frustration of residents and share their concerns, as we would like to bring the play area back into use. JRHT has previously carried out improvement works on the Woodlands play area but unfortunately subsequently the play area was vandalised and badly burnt, meaning it was unsafe to reopen.  We are working in consultation with our residents’ association to find a solution."

Shirley Gumley is from the Foxwood Residents' Association and says that residents want to know why it can't be used:
