The long overrunning roadworks at the roundabout where the A59 meets York's Outer Ring Road will start up again on Wednesday.

Boroughbridge Road will be closed heading into York between 9.30am and 3.30pm between 16th-22nd July. However, York Council is hopeful that the closure could end early and finish on the 18th July.

The works had been put on hold for the Tour de France last weekend.

York Council said at the start of the month that there are still some works on footpaths and traffic islands which haven't been completed and were postponed to get the junction ready for last weekend's cycling event.

It means the roadworks, which are connected to the new Poppleton Park and Ride site, are more than a month overdue.

The council is stressing that once the longer term works are complete, the area will benefit from lower traffic levels due to the new Park and RIde.
