Lord Mayor of York to Visit Tour de Tang Hall

Ian Gillies 130614

4:45pm 13th June 2014

Ahead of The Tour de France coming to York on Sunday 6 July the Civic Party will attend Tang Hall, which will host its very own cycling event this weekend.

On Sunday 15 June the Tour de Tang Hall is all set to celebrate Tang Hall and its neighbouring areas with an exciting new community event. The fun afternoon will incorporate three different community activity hubs and will encourage residents to ‘tour’ each one and sample the fun on offer.

Residents are invited to start the tour from any of the hubs where they can register on the day or in advance. Participants will collect a different coloured wristband from each hub and all those who complete the tour will receive a certificate, tour keyring and the chance to win some great prizes.

The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Ian Gillies said: “I am looking forward to attending this community event in Tang Hall. This event has been made possible by the hard work of a number of community groups and the event promises to be a celebratory occasion ahead of the biggest annual sporting event coming to York in a matter of weeks.”

This free event has been organised by Heworth and Hull Road ward teams in partnership with City of York Council, Tang Hall Community Centre, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, Tang Hall and Heworth Residents’ Association, York University Student Union, North Yorkshire Police and local schools. It will take place from 1pm to 4pm.

Residents are invited to register by email: tourdetanghall@gmail.com, sign the registration sheet at Tang Hall Community Centre or register on the day at one of the community activity hubs.
