£11m Changes Planned For North Yorkshire Police
9:47am 11th June 2014
Policing in North Yorkshire is set to face big changes due to a new Operational Policing Model being announced later on today. The plans are designed to protect and enhance front-line visible policing services in North Yorkshire
It's expected that officers will be spending more time on the streets, that custody suites in Selby will be closed to save funds and more special constables brought in around the region. A complete overhaul of policing in York is expected to happen which will include hand held computers to make sure officers on the beat can complete paper work and also automatic vehicle registration equipment to cut down on motoring crime in the area.
The proposals are set to happen over the next two to ten years, if plans are approved.
