Companies looking to move into the area or expand are now able to enter their requirements via a newly lanched website and find the exact building and location they are seeking.
The enhanced website at www.businessinspiredgrowth.com/properties has been launched by Business Inspired Growth, a private-sector led organisation, with representatives from the public sector, which aims to deliver good quality, sustainable, economic improvements across the region.
Selby District Council is supporting the roll-out of the property search website as part of its Programme for Growth initiative, which aims to provide practical support to businesses looking to invest and grow.
One company which is pleased it moved into the Selby district is Caffe Society Ltd, located in Moxon Way, Sherburn in Elmet. The company, which supplies coffee machines and other catering equipment, moved into the area in 2005 from its previous base in Wetherby.
Managing Director Steve Mooring said:
"We expanded so much that we had to build a new unit nearby which we moved into in 2012 and we have plans for further growth in the near future. Here in the Selby district is an ideal location in terms of the major road network, it's handy for our customers and ideal for staff to get to.
"We have 21,000 square feet here and employ 32 people but we are thinking we will need more space before long to look after all our customers. We are glad we moved here, the location is perfect and there is room to grow."
Leader of the Council, Cllr Mark Crane, explained why the Council is backing this new online resource, "One of our key selling points for business growth in the Selby district is commercial and industrial space, which can support a wide range of sectors. Our major new developments are just part of the story, with opportunities for companies to relocate into the area or expand existing premises already there. This new website resource helps match supply and demand and we hope it will help to draw in more investment to the Selby district, which ultimately supports jobs."
The launch of the property launch wesbite comes at a very exciting time for the district with several major development schemes being given the go-ahead. All will offer new opportunities for businesses to locate or expand in the Selby district. For example, Olympia Park in Barlby could create around 2,500 new jobs by providing new comercial and industrial facilities, alongside significant new housing. Meanwhile the new Selby Marina development will offer new comercial opportunities as part of a major package of development that includes housing and canal berths. Elsewhere, £50m is being invested in a 90-acre development at Sherburn in Elmet to build on the area's existing
