York Man Found Guilty in Kidnap and Rape Trial

A York man's been found guilty of a series of sex offences and a kidnap.
37 year old Mark Ford Thompson of Hospital Fields Road in Fulford has been found guilty of nine charges at Teesside Crown Court.
The charges Thompson was found guilty of are:
- Three counts of rape
- Two counts of attempted rape
- One count of kidnap
- One count of sexual assault
- One count of attempted sexual assault
- One count of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence.
Detective Chief Inspector Maria Taylor, who led the investigation, said: “As Senior Investigating Officer in this case, the conviction of Thompson gives me and my officers a degree of satisfaction."
“I would like to pay particular praise to the victims in this case who clearly, based on the facts, have been subjected to the most harrowing of experiences."
“Had it not been for their courage and that of the witnesses to come forward and work the police, the conviction of Thompson would have been all the more difficult."
“I would like to extend my personal gratitude to them.”
Thompson will be sentenced next week.
