CCTV Image Released After Selby Shop Thefts
12:35pm 1st May 2014
Police investigating a number of shop thefts in Selby have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incidents.
A series of thefts of bottles of vodka have occurred at shops in the town over the last month and officers are urging anyone who recognises the man from the image to come forward.
Some of the thefts have involved a man selecting a bottle of vodka from the shelf and putting it in his bag before making his way to the counter. He then says he doesn’t have the means to pay before handing back a bottle which he has filled with water, keeping the vodka in his bag.
On other occasions a man has simply left the shops with a bottle of vodka without paying.
Officers are investigating offences at the B&M store on the Three Lakes shopping park, Abbeyside Filling Station on Bawtry Road, and East Common Post Office on Barwick Parade.
Officers are also urging shopkeepers in Selby to be aware of these incidents and remain vigilant.
Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Alison Marshall or Selby police.
Alternatively, information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you prefer not to give your name, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
