List of Streets Patrolled by York Parking Car To Be Published
3:30pm 30th April 2014
A list of streets patrolled by York Council's parking enforcement car will be published shortly.
Minster FM asked the city council if it would make drivers aware of the roads the car patrols to catch people who park illegally. It means the authority will follow a similar procedure as North Yorkshire Police, which publishes a list of where it's mobile speed cameras could be each week. You can see the most recent list of speed cameras here.
When the controversial camera car was launched at the end of February, it was heavily promoted as a tool to catch parents who park illegally and dangerously on the school run. But this morning, the York Press revealed that the car is not just being used to catch drivers who park illegally outside schools and is targetting drivers who park illegally across York.
York Council says it's staff are working on a list of streets the car patrols which will be made public to drivers as a deterrent. As soon as the list is available, we will also publish it on minsterfm.com.
But Janet Looker from York Council says it is the right thing to do for the car to catch illegal and dangerous parking across the city.
