Members of Ryedale District Council’s Planning Committee have supported plans to develop part of Wentworth Street Car Park at Malton. The proposals submitted by GMI Holbeck Land (Malton) Ltd are to build a supermarket, offices, petrol filling station, carpark and associated landscaping.
Planning Committee members voted to approve the officer recommendation that the application be notified to the Secretary of State and that outline planning permission be granted should the Secretary of State decide not to intervene. “If the Secretary of State decides to intervene and so require this application to be referred to him for a decision, a public enquiry can be expected“ said Cllr John Windress, Vice - Chairman of Ryedale District Council’s Planning Committee .“Should the Secretary of State decide not to intervene, the District Council will grant outline planning permission for the Wentworth Street proposal, subject to the specified planning conditions and completion of a section 106 planning agreement ”
Should planning permission be granted there will be a period of six weeks during which the planning permission may be challenged through a judicial review.
