Making families...Changing lives: Adoption Event
6:08am 14th April 2014
The information events, which are help jointly with North Yorkshire County Council and East Riding Council, provide an informal opportunity to anyone interested in adoption to find out more about what’s involved.
The next information session will be held in York today (14 April) between 6.30 and 8.30pm. To book a place please call 01904 553525or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Nationally 4,000 children are waiting to find an adoptive family, but for one in four it is likely to remain only a dream.
City of York Council approved 18 new adoptive families in 2013/14 and is looking to approve another 21 in 2014/15.
Councillor Janet Looker, Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Young People, said: “We are looking to recruit people who are willing to offer a child a permanent, loving home, whatever their age, status or situation.
“I’d urge anyone who is considering adoption or who would like to find out more to come along to our next information event.”
City of York Council has joined forces with other local authorities across the region through the Yorkshire and Humberside Adoption Consortium to recruit more adopters. For more information on the ‘Being Family’ campaign visit http://beingfamily.co.uk/
