Lord Mayor of York To Thank Golf Club Ahead of Charity Day

Julie Gunnell Lord Mayor 230513

3:30pm 7th April 2014

The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Julie Gunnell will visit Pike Hills golf club tomorrow to thank them for their support of the forthcoming Lord Mayor’s Charity Golf Day.

This annual charity event will take place at Pike Hills Golf Club on Friday 25 April, with the permission of the Club Captain, Chairman, and Committee members. In its seventh year, the competition sees golfers from across the city and across Yorkshire join together to play for the Lord Mayor’s Cup.

The Rt Hon Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Julie Gunnell said: “I am very much looking forward to this event which is taking place in aid of IDAS and the Jack Raine Foundation, two charities who work with vulnerable residents and young people in the city and are close to my heart.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of local businesses that have sponsored holes on the course and the number who have already signed up to take part in the competition.  I am delighted that JMark Construction has kindly agreed to sponsor the event and will have a presence at Pike Hills Golf Club on the day. There are only a few places left, so I would like to urge residents to book their place for what promises to be a great golfing event which supports such a good cause.”

All funds raised through the competition will go to the Civic charities for the 2013/14 civic year, the Independent Domestic Abuse Service (IDAS) and the Jack Raine foundation, who support vulnerable people across the city.

There are still a few tee-off times available for those wishing to take part.  Entry for a team of 4 golfers is £80.00 per team, and includes the round of golf and a coffee and bacon sandwich before play commences.

Sponsoring opportunities are still available for a couple of the holes, for only £50.00 your company can sponsor one of the holes on the course, and have your name promoted on the day of the event

To take part or for any other enquiries, please contact the civic office on (01904) 551011 or email civicenquiries@york.gov.uk
