North Yorkshire Police

(Updated 11:41am 11th March 2014)

The conference took place over three days between Friday 7 March and Sunday 9 March 2014, at the Barbican Centre.

There was some disruption to traffic and the general public during the TUC demonstration on Saturday 8 March 2014, however there was no disorder for officers to deal with.

Superintendent Phil Cain, of York police, said: “The Liberal Democrat Conference was a big event for the City of York and I am pleased that it passed off safely and without incident.

“I would like to thank the officers and staff who were involved in policing the event, as well as our partners who we worked with closely to ensure that the conference was staged safely and securely.

“I would also like to thank those who were involved in Saturday’s demonstration for engaging in a peaceful protest and helping to minimise the disruption to the public.”
