Minster FM Lendal Bridge Debate: York Council Denies Plans for "No Car City"

Lendal Bridge Sign

1:47pm 27th February 2014

Six months after the Lendal Bridge trial began, York Council officials have told Minster FM's Lendal Bridge debate that York will not become a "no car city".

After Darren Richardson from the council said the aim was to get people to use their cars less, Executive Patron of the Drivers' Union Godfrey Bloom challenged him and cabinet member Dave Merrett.

To mark the six month point of the trial, Minster FM held a debate allowing key opinion formers representing tourists, businesses, drivers and bus users to share their views with the city council, as well as putting questions from Minster FM listeners.

You can hear more from Minster FM's Lendal Bridge debate on air on 104.7 FM and online.
