Final Day For Parents To Have A Say On York School Meals.

School Dinners 100214

8:20am 16th February 2014

Parents, carers and pupils are being reminded that they only have until the end of today to give their views on school meals in York.

City of York Council's Learning and Culture Overview and Scrutiny Committee has set up a Task Group to look into the take-up of school meals generally and the take-up of Free School Meals specifically.

City of York Council, Head of School Services, Mark Ellis said: "School meals have come a long way in the past few years since Jamie Oliver brought them to the public's attention.

"Research shows that good nutrition is vital to supporting good learning and we want to find out why more pupils in York aren't taking school meals, whether or not they are entitled to Free School Meals.

"I'd urge everyone to email or write in with their views so we can make York's school meals as tasty and accessible as possible."

To give feedback on school meals in York please email schoolmealservice@york.gov.uk or write to Mark Ellis, Head of School Services at:
