A pet cat has had it's leg amputated after it was shot twice in the leg with an air rifle in Market Weighton.

It happened last Tuesday evening between 5.30pm and 6.00pm on the monkey run in the town and reported to police the next day.

Vets had to amputate the animal's leg after what police are describing as an "horrific injury".

Officers suspect a .22 air rifle was used in the attack and are asking anyone with information to contact Humberside Police on 101 quoting log 504 of the 5th February.
