Free York City Centre Parking

City of York Council is offering free car-parking all day and all night on Saturday 1 February 2014.
Thirteen car parks are free to use by local residents and visitors to the City.
This initative looks to help local businesses and retailers within York by enticing more people into the city centre in what is regarded as the quietest time of year for shops.
Councillor James Alexander, Labour Leader of City of York Council said: " The council promised to work on a parking initative to help retailers and other city-centre businesses.
We all know how quiet the city can be in the post-Christmas period and we at the council are happy to support them."
The car parks that willl be free to use are:
Bishopthorpe Road, Bootham Row, Castle, Castle Mills, Esplanade, Foss Bank, Haymarket, Marygate,
Monkbar, Nunnery Lane, Picadilly, St George's Field, Union Terrace.
